Discover the Potential of Applied Quantum Technologies!
During the academy, you will receive an exclusive overview of the current state of research and development in quantum technologies. Translating fundamental quantum physics principles into real-world applications increasingly requires significant efforts, particularly in engineering and computer science. Turning these emerging technologies into viable solutions also demands the creation of business models and market opportunities. Both young start-ups and well-established companies are heavily investing in quantum technologies.
Throughout the academy, you will gain exclusive insights into this cutting-edge field and have the opportunity to broaden your perspective on both science and entrepreneurship. The one-week program includes:
- Excursions to leading companies and research institutes
- Talks from experts in the field of quantum technologies
- Exclusive insights into the latest research and developments
- Networking opportunities with entrepreneurs, start-ups, and industry leaders
- Interactive workshops
- Cultural evening events
The program will take you to exciting labs, institutes, and companies. You will spend the first half of the week in the Netherlands (Amsterdam and Delft) and the second half in Germany (Aachen and Jülich).
What you need to know:
Who is hosting the event?
The academy is hosted by the German Federal Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF), Quantum Delta NL, Quantum Talent and Learning Centre Amsterdam, Forschungszentrum Jülich, and the Fraunhofer Institute for Laser Technology. Take advantage of this influential international quantum network and connect with renowned players in the field.
Who can apply?
Bachelor and Master students from all STEM disciplines who are enrolled at a German or Dutch university at the time of application are eligible to apply. Basic knowledge of quantum physics is required. If quantum physics is not part of your curriculum, you should at least demonstrate your interest in the field—ideally with supporting evidence (e.g., participation in voluntary workshops, seminar papers, etc.).
Participation in the academy is free of charge. Accommodation and most meals are provided. Travel costs will be reimbursed in coordination with the respective organizers. The event will be held in English.
How to apply:
Interested students can apply with a short motivation letter, a current CV, and a recent transcript of records.
The application deadline is May 4, 2025!
